A Personal Milestone in the Elite Field
This year’s Slovak Gravel National Championship took place on a fast, flat parcours, marking a truly defining milestone for me. As an amateur rider, I had never pinned on a number for a national championship before—let alone lined up directly against the domestic elite—making the day an immense and thrilling challenge.
Home Advantage and the Road to Recovery
Motivation ran high right from the start line:
- Racing on Home Soil: Competing in familiar surroundings on home gravel added something special to the experience. The home crowd and terrain provided that crucial extra boost to empty the tank.
- A Rising Discipline: While gravel racing is still in its infancy across Slovakia, it is exciting to watch this discipline gather momentum as the community grows with each race.
- Finding Form Mid-Rehab: Still in the midst of a lengthy, ongoing recovery from a herniated disc, this was the very first time this year where I felt properly dialed in and back in solid form.
Summary
I could not be happier with how the legs and body responded. To hold my own alongside the elite field on home ground after months of rehab is a massive physical and mental breakthrough. The road back continues, and this result gives me all the motivation needed moving forward!
